bcooney Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 You need a conditional value list. See this example.
Dani R Posted January 6, 2008 Author Posted January 6, 2008 its is still not working for me can someone help me please?
LaRetta Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Please attach your file to a response here so we can see what you have. :smile2:
Lee Smith Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 (edited) The file didn't come through. Be sure you follow the steps. Zip your file. Click on [color:orange]Manage files. In the Popup Menu, Choose File locate the file that is zipped on your hard drive Add File You will see it work, and then add it to the list in the box Finish Be sure to click this button, or it will not add the file to your post Add Post HTH Lee Edited January 7, 2008 by Guest
Leather Knight Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I had the same issue. This is what I did. I made a value list. choose values from another field/pick the field that has the data you want to see. That way when you add data to that field, it will automatically go into the value listing.
LaRetta Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 (edited) Hi Kevin, The only reason I didn't attempt an explanation is that dani was already given a sample to follow AND dani didn't provide much in the way of explantion of what had been tried, what didn't work, or what was confusing. You've helped out before, thank you so much. But I don't want you to think I was blowing off dani's need; it's just that sometimes it's easier to ask for a file, fix it for them, then explain how it works in THEIR file rather than post back and forth another 10 times since dani was so thin on providing information. This felt like one of those times. Thank you for catching (and carrying forward) the ball for us here! I'll bet it's cold in Great Falls right now! We have (I think) 68 degree days here! Dani R Posted January 8, 2008 Author Posted January 8, 2008 LaRetta thank you for tour help so much the problem was that the link that i got dose not open for me.
LaRetta Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 You must have selected the wrong type file to download? If you select Windows, you will get a zip file. If you select the blue mac icon, you will get a SIT file. One or the other should extract for you. But to your issue directly ... you must have a filtered relationship to specify a conditional value list. Since you want to only display customers with Tape A (type of hotel) then you need to base your relationship on a table occurrence of customers which has been filtered by Tape (see your graph). A global is created in Customers but that global is placed in PriceLists. You must select the Tape (yellow field) and THEN select the customer which will now filter down for you. Notice in your value lists that I changed your CustomerID value list to, instead of specifying 'all values', to 'Only related values' starting from 'Tape of Customer'. LaRetta Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Well I'm just guessing but it says "here i what to see only cutomer that r in hotel type " on the layout. And upon reviewing the detail, type makes sense when I read the value lists. But yes, it threw me off bigtime as well at first. I created the global and followed the same 'logic' just to be sure I didn't confuse even more. It is quite possible that english isn't the first language here and that's wonderful as well. :wink2:
