Fitch Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 A couple of years ago I found a TextMate* bundle for formatting FileMaker calculations, but now I can't find it. Can anyone point me to it? *TextMate is an excellent text editor for Mac. "Bundles" extend it sort of like plugins for FileMaker.
bcooney Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Not familiar with TextMate, but I use Aptworks Calc Formatter sometimes. Calc Formatter
Fitch Posted December 12, 2008 Author Posted December 12, 2008 Thanks, Barbara. I know about the Aptworks site, it is useful, but TextMate gives you colorized code and other goodies. It's frustrating because I know this bundle was available within the last couple of years, but my google-fu is apparently not strong enough today.
wintergreen Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 sorry to revive a dead thread, but I was after this as well. Googling for it has had no joy (in fact it brought me back here...).
Fitch Posted April 22, 2009 Author Posted April 22, 2009 The PHP bundle is from Jonathan Stark and is available from his old download site. However, I asked him and he said he's not the author of the calc formatting bundle that I'm talking about, and hadn't seen it. Still digging...
Lee Smith Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Hi Tom, I was wondering if you had subscribed to this blog. It seems to me that maybe someone on it would have heard of it? Please report back if you locate the package, it could make the cost of TextMate worth it. Lee
Fitch Posted April 22, 2009 Author Posted April 22, 2009 No, I don't subscribe to the TextMate blog or mailing lists. I suppose that's worth a shot, but I think it's more likely to be found on one of the FileMaker lists. I don't think the FileMaker-formatting bundle alone would be worth buying TextMate, but for those times you need to massage a text file it's a great tool. And if you work with any kind of code (HTML, PHP, etc.) it's also very handy.
Lee Smith Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Hi Tom, I found a link to the Bundle, I think. Link HTH Lee
Fitch Posted July 28, 2009 Author Posted July 28, 2009 Very nice find, Lee. Looks even more extensive than the one I remember. I think it may be something new, since the project was only created July 9. To the author, "chivalrysoft" whoever you are: thanks!
Lee Smith Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Hi Tom, As luck would have it, Matt Petrowsky has a new video he released yesterday. It is about using the FileMaker Bundle and TextMate. I have played around with his file and the Bundle a lot last night, and after I saw his approach, I purchased TextMate. Cool stuff. Lee
rivet Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Just playing around with TextMate. Using KeyboardMaestro i have two scripts to move text to and from TextMate and Filemaker, but I need the default bundle on a new window in TextMate to be the Filemaker Bundle, does anyone know how to do this?
Lee Smith Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 If you use QuickCurser automatically opens the new Calculation page using FileMaker settings if you are coming from the edit box. When you save the page, it is available in a new Window. I don't see a way in TextMate to set FileMaker as the default. When I open up TextMate without clicking on an existing bundle, it is always a new Plain Text Page. It would be nice if we could set this as a default setting. Maybe some else has a way. Lee
rivet Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 found this: http://lists.macromates.com/textmate/2006-February/008276.html but it only seems to work with the bundles that come with TextMate. I wonder if a keystroke could be assigned like some of the others.
Lee Smith Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Hi rivit, I just looked at all the options with Matt's Bundle and again within Text Mate, and I just don't see an way to make FileMaker Bundle the default. Your link seems to explain a method, but It also seem like I could screw it up as I never have much luck with using the Terminal and plist. I tried to add a keyboard comb for this in Menu Master, and that didn't work? Bottom line, there are a lot of bundles that have keyboard combs now, and remembering another one to save a mouse click in TextMate to change it from plain text and FileMaker just doesn't seem practical to me. If you find a way that works for you, please post it so that others can take advantage of it if they want. TIA Lee
rivet Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 okay here is where I am at, and it is working well. Required: - MAC - Keyboard Maestro (or something similar) - TextMate - Filemaker TEXTMATE 1. set: prefs / General / Untitled Document / Dont create untitled document. 2. create a new doc, switch language/bundle to Filemaker 3. Save file, with the '.calc' extension FINDER 1. get info for that file. 2. under open with, set to TextMate. KEYBOARD MASTRO //First Macro triggered while in Filemaker (control+command+e) - select all - copy - open file <file you create above> - select all - paste //Second Macro triggered while in TextMAte (control+command+w) - select all - copy - Activate Filemaker - select all - paste
Chuck Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 To the author, "chivalrysoft" whoever you are: thanks! You're welcome. Matt and I worked on this together before he forked it to his own liking. I'm thinking of returning to developing it more and feedback regarding it would be welcome. If you're using either my version or Matt's let me know what you like or don't like and I'll take that into consideration. Thanks, Chuck 1
hanzel Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Here's the public release of a great textmate bundle for filemaker that does color coding, auto complete and more. http://buzz.beezwax....textmate-bundle 1
