June 13, 200916 yr On a German VISTA installation (both 32 and 64 Bit) Scriptmaster 3.0 crashes FM10 Adv. reproducible time after time already at startup. This even happens when starting with no file at all but just calling the program. It was especially annoying as the Scriptmaster auto download feature doesn't load the plugin into the program's extension dir but somewhere deep into a hidden dir c:Users(Current User)AppData ... where it was quite hard to locate and remove to get FM back to starting up at all. Is this behaviour restricted to only my systems? To German VISTA installations with FM10 in general? Thanks in advance for any feedback.
June 13, 200916 yr Hi - sorry about this problem, we will check into it. The auto-update location is set by FileMaker; that's not something that we set.
June 13, 200916 yr Author I just received a message from a friend that he run into the same symptoms on his German VISTA machine. Thus it can be considered a kind of confirmed bug. I'd like to know whether the same happens on other VISTA systems where English is not the primary language. Sincerely, Therese
June 13, 200916 yr I believe that version 8 is not compatible with Vista. Check FileMaker's site to confirm. Lee
June 14, 200916 yr Author You're probably right FM8 won't run on VISTA — but FM10 definitely should. And definitely does without the Scriptmaster plug. I've got 3 other different replies in the meantime that Scriptmaster 3 crashes FM10 on a German VISTA installation directly at startup in a German FM forum; thus it can definitely considered a confirmed bug. If you're fluent in German, you may take a look here: http://www.filemaker-magazin.de/fmmforum/92376.html Sincerely, Therese
August 30, 200916 yr Author Update - exactly the same happens with ScriptMaster 3.1 released a few days ago. It still crashes FM10 with German interface on a German VISTA installation directly at startup. The only chance to get FM going again at all is deletion of the plugin. ??!? Therese
September 4, 200916 yr I just tried ScriptMaster 3.1 on German Windows Server 2008 and it ran without an issue. I'm working on setting up a Vista machine, will update with test results. Are you using and administrative user, or a restricted user account?
September 8, 200916 yr I have been testing this on a German Vista Pro x86 and have not been able to reproduce this problem. Everything so far has been working fine. I am running a German installation of Vista, fully updated, with a German interface, date settings, etc. The only non-German part of this setup is the keyboard setting, which is set to English (otherwise i wouldn't be able to type anything!) We would be interested in doing a screen sharing session with you, or using remote desktop to access your machines, if you can set that up for us, so that we can see directly what the issues are and look through logs as necessary. If you are interested in doing this to help us diagnose the source of these problems please email me at [email protected] and we can set up a time to use screen sharing or remote desktop. September 13, 200916 yr hello, I have the same disappointment installing scriptmaster installing 3.1 on vista edition familiale premium 64 bits ( french ) with FM10A : crash! What can i do ? Edited September 13, 200916 yr by Guest
September 13, 200916 yr We are not able to reproduce the issue on our machines running non-English versions of Vista 64-bit. If you'd like to setup a screen sharing session, we have the tools to set it up. Then we could try to diagnose the issue directly on your machine. Please let us know if you'd like to do that.
September 14, 200916 yr Newbies Hello friends This happens in Windows Vista 64 / spanish I've tried installing both versions of Java (32 and 64) but it still crashes at the start up.
September 14, 200916 yr I'm available on Skype @ val360 Please contact me and I'll setup a session with GotoAssist.
October 31, 200916 yr Author Just saw v3.2x of ScriptMaster is out. Unfortunately the above described issue remains the same on German installation. Tested on VISTA32 and Win 7 x64. A remote debug session has been done on my VISTA32 machine about a month ago and revealed only that a fatal error occurred already at startup before any significant log entries were produced. ??!?
February 3, 201015 yr I'm using Filemaker Pro 9.0v3 and have been using Filemaker since around version 3. For all its warts, the software has been very stable. It rarely crashes and I've never lost data. However, since I recently installed Scriptmaster, I have a problem with Filemaker freezing. It happens about once a day. The windows can be moved, but nothing can be clicked or accessed within the window and I have to kill the process and recover. I am only using two Scriptmaster functions... check if file exists and get URL as container. They work fine, but given that I've made no other changes to Filemaker, I'm suspicious that Scriptmaster is responsible for the freezing. I need this plugin, but I'll have to dump it and find other options if it turns out to be responsible because stability is more important than functions. I'd prefer to have both. There's no pattern to the freezing other than it seems to happen if I go into File>Manage>Database... I too wonder if this is happening to other users who have installed Scriptmaster.
February 3, 201015 yr Newbies Ever since installing Scriptmaster v3.301, I've been experiencing crashes when modifying layouts and calculation fields, especially ones that use Scriptmaster function . Running FMP9 adv on MacOS 10.5.8. The only functions I have registered are Cryptography and GetURL as Text, and they run via the startup script. When I downgrade to Scriptmaster v3.22, all is well and I stop experiencing the crashes. I have not tested this with FMP9adv on XP, but will shortly (I'm aware of the java compatibility issued with Java 6_18 in Windows) Below is the Console dump when crashing in v3.301 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] Feb 3, 2010 10:37:20 AM com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge pushContext 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] WARNING: pushContext called when stack size is 1; this either means it was called re-entrantly, an idle handler was called without waiting for a return from a previous call, or pop was not called from last invocation. 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] java.lang.RuntimeException: This is not an error, it's just a stack trace 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge.pushContext(PluginBridge.java:1111) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge.doFunction(PluginBridge.java:918) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge._startEventLoop(Native Method) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge.startEventLoop(PluginBridge.java:1189) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge.runTask(PluginBridge.java:990) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge.doFunction(PluginBridge.java:921) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] Feb 3, 2010 10:37:20 AM com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge pushContext 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] WARNING: pushContext called when stack size is 1; this either means it was called re-entrantly, an idle handler was called without waiting for a return from a previous call, or pop was not called from last invocation. 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] java.lang.RuntimeException: This is not an error, it's just a stack trace 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge.pushContext(PluginBridge.java:1111) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge.doFunction(PluginBridge.java:918) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge._startEventLoop(Native Method) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge.startEventLoop(PluginBridge.java:1189) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge.runTask(PluginBridge.java:990) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge.doFunction(PluginBridge.java:921) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] Invalid memory access of location 0x1d eip=0xfce1fd 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] Feb 3, 2010 10:37:20 AM com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge pushContext 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] WARNING: pushContext called when stack size is 1; this either means it was called re-entrantly, an idle handler was called without waiting for a return from a previous call, or pop was not called from last invocation. 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] java.lang.RuntimeException: This is not an error, it's just a stack trace 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge.pushContext(PluginBridge.java:1111) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge.pushContext(PluginBridge.java:1111) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge.doFunction(PluginBridge.java:918) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge._startEventLoop(Native Method) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge.startEventLoop(PluginBridge.java:1189) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge.runTask(PluginBridge.java:990) 2/3/10 10:37:20 AM [0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189] at com.prosc.fmkit.PluginBridge.doFunction(PluginBridge.java:921) 2/3/10 10:37:25 AM com.apple.launchd[250] ([0x0-0x8e08e].com.filemaker.pro.advanced[1189]) Exited abnormally: Bus error

February 4, 201015 yr I've posted a temporary build that I'm hoping will fix the second and third posts on this thread (I'm sorry, I still haven't been able to reproduce the German Vista crashing problem and so I can't solve that one until I do). The build is posted here: http://demo.360works.com/temp/sm-3.301.zip I'd love it if you could try this and see if it fixes the problems you're having. We'll probably post a public build later today and call it 3.31.
February 8, 201015 yr We're still unable to reproduce this issue on our test system, but I know that it is definitely happening for all of you. Are you using any antivirus software? If so, what software are you using?

February 8, 201015 yr For anyone who is getting this crash on an international version of Vista or Windows 7: We have not been able to reproduce this issue on our test machines. If possible, we would like to use a copy of one of your machines to test on. If you are willing to do this, we would like you to use a virtualization tool, such as http://www.vmware.com/products/converter/ to make a copy of your computer as a virtual machine which we will be able to test on. If you can do this, please email me at [email protected] and I will give you instructions on how to send us the file. Thank you very much!
February 10, 201015 yr I'm almost certain now that it is Scriptmaster freezing Filemaker. I stopped using Scriptmaster for 4 days in a row and Filemaker performed normally. Today I loaded Scriptmaster again and within 10 minutes it froze while performing a search. I had to kill the process. I had another plugin running. so I disabled it to make sure it wasn't the other plugin, or perhaps a dual-plugin conflict, and moved it to another folder. I ran Filemaker again and within about 5 minutes it froze at a random moment. It doesn't seem to freeze during any particular action so could the problem be related to memory usage? It doesn't seem to matter whether I open the Scriptmaster table first and then the other tables, or whether I open the others first and then Script master, it freezes the same way each time. I can grab a window and move it around, but I can't get focus anywhere in the windows... it's not possible to click anything, access any menus, or perform any functions. Hope this info helps.
February 10, 201015 yr FMReader, can you please give a call in to the office, or phone me on Skype? I'd like to take a look at your system and see what the issue you are experiencing is.
May 22, 201015 yr Sorry, I've been worked off my feet and have barely been able to visit the forum. I'm still very busy. I switched to Filemaker Pro 10 Advanced. I couldn't deal with the program crashing when running Scriptmaster... so now I have some more information for you. It doesn't happen as often in FMP10 Adv. but it still seems to happen occasionally and I think I've MAYBE identified a possible cause. I have several external drives. A couple of them are portable drives. They don't have their own power source, they take power from the data connection cable, and they power down when not in use to save energy. I have a suspicion that the Filemaker/Scriptmaster combination is crashing when the drives haven't been accessed for a while. This doesn't happen when I use Filemaker without Scriptmaster and doesn't happen with other apps. Is there a possibility that there needs to be a delay in the routine, or some kind of error check, in case a drive is not instantly accessible? Just a thought.
May 24, 201015 yr Newbies The consistent crash (not freeze) is happening with our installations too. PC's are Win7 64bit mix of English and German, but the OS language seems unimportant but they do have Language Packs installed. The steps to reproduction should be: 1- Install FMP 11 English (earlier versions seem affected looking at prior posts) 2- Add the ScriptMaster plugin to the FM extensions folder. 3- Start FMP and it should run okay 4- Go to Preferences and change "User Interface Language" to something other than English 5- Restart FMP It crashes right before displaying "Loading... 360Works ScriptMaster" with the following error in the Application log: Log Name: Application Source: Application Error Date: 24/05/2010 2:25:33 p.m. Event ID: 1000 Task Category: (100) Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: LZI-2F-02D.dsty.ac.jp Description: Faulting application name: FileMaker Pro.exe, version: 11.0.1.103, time stamp: 0x4b90cbce Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bdb3b Exception code: 0xc0000374 Fault offset: 0x000cdcbb Faulting process id: 0xaa8 Faulting application start time: 0x01cafb0186d0a640 Faulting application path: C:Program Files (x86)FileMakerFileMaker Pro 11FileMaker Pro.exe Faulting module path: C:WindowsSysWOW64ntdll.dll Report Id: c61a9891-66f4-11df-970f-002186f042ab
May 26, 201015 yr I have the same problem here on Win7/FM10. The only way to prevent FM from crashing is to set the language to "English" within the preferneces of FM. After that change, ScriptMaster loads without any problems. I hope there will be a solution to this problem soon, because I really got used to the German terminologies within FM. Tom
July 20, 201015 yr Author Just wanted to mention that the latest version of the plugin (4.0 from July 20th, 2010) works with FM11 on a German Win 7 x64. There have been quite a bunch of similar posts for versions up to 3.34. Thus I encourage everyone having experienced difficulties with ScriptMaster to try the latest version and let the community here know the result. Sincerely, Therese
July 20, 201015 yr Thank you very much for sharing this! We will officially release ScriptMaster 4 next week, we did do a couple of pre-release announcements, but for anyone who missed them you can get a copy of ScriptMaster 4 here
July 28, 201015 yr SCriptMaster 4 has been released! Please download it from http://360works.com/scriptmaster/. This should have a fix for the issue you have been experiencing with non-english versions of windows.
