Sentences in different languages

I thought this would be an easy task. Just buy filemaker pro and start building a Database, but it's far from easy I can tell you that.

I have an excel sheet with 21 countries. Every country has 200 and some sentences, every sentence has it's own unique number/code.

ie.

|r23|habla espanol|Do you speak spanish|Spreek je spaans|etc..|etc..|

What I want is a database with a drop down list with the 21 countries, I want checkboxes with the unique sentence codes. Also I want a result field with al the selected sentences from the selected country.

What is the right and easiest path to follow 'cause I've been banging my head over this for a couple of days now.

Thanks in advance!

What you're trying to do sounds quite similar in concept to this: http://fmforums.com/forum/showpost.php?post/195641/

Download the example and adapt it to your needs:

1) rather than selection of a CONTINENT giving you a list of COUNTRIES, you need selection of COUNTRY giving a list of SENTENCES

2) as you want multiple sentences selectable, you need to change the 'secondarySelection' from a drop-down list to a checkbox set

3) your 'result field' will in fact be a repeat of the 'secondarySelection' field, but change it from a checkbox set to an edit box.

Hope that helps. I've subscribed to this topic, so post again if you are still stuck.

Yours

James
