FileMaker Pro for iPad?

Featured Replies

Is there any hope that there will be a way to run FileMaker solutions on the iPad? Even if it is just a runtime solution for now I would be satisfied, though running the Pro client on the iPad to connect to a database served up by Server would be nice too.

Any one have similar wishes or knowledge on this subject?

The iPad goes on sale in 60 days. I strongly suspect FileMaker is fully aware of this opportunity.

As far as I can tell, FMTouch for iPhone/iPod Touch will run on the iPad.

Yes, but it will be irrelevant.

If not, FileMaker will miss a one kilometer high pile of money and a lot of fun so... I doubt they will pass that chance.

I want to see a thin iPad FM client that would access FM database on a server and allow workers to seamlessly use the iPad to access FM databases, entering data, barcode scanning maybe, searching, sorting. It would be an awesome Lab notebook.

Got to agree on this one. The retail aplications that this would work for are amazing. I think that it would be a game changing product

Exactly what I was thinking. I'm not looking to develop on the iPad, just use FM to write some apps that can be used on the iPad.

FMTouch seems like it is pretty good. I haven't tried it myself. I would just rather have a native FM app.

Not that this adds to the discussion much, but they are aware that the iPad exists.

Question

Are FileMaker products compatible with the Apple iPad?

Answer

FileMaker, Inc. is extremely excited by iPad. As the leader in database software for Apple platforms (with FileMaker on Mac, and Bento on Mac and iPhone and iPod touch), we are actively exploring the possibilities created by iPad.

Thanks Colin!

I second that vote! Even just a runtime would be great, but having the ability to sync changes to data between the desktop and ipad both ways would be mandatory feature for me. Maybe fmtouch ipad version will be a potential

Hi

The link you have provided is not giving the result aas the answer has got " old " .So please write an answer for this.

1. how to generate runtime solutions in windows that will work for ipad

2. how the runtime solution is transferred to the ipad.

Please help

Thanks

Jibardhan

You can't put a runtime on an iPad. You either copy the file over in iTunes, or access it remotely. In both cases you run FMGo.

Thanks
