Are hairless cats frightening?

Featured Replies

Well I was just told by someone that they thought my avatar was scary.  They went on to say they could see it was a hairless cat but it was scary anyway.

I think the little guy is adorable but I would be willing to let him go and use something else if others also think he is scary.  I would not want to scare clients but in all my years of using him off and on, nobody else has ever said that.

Input anyone?  Thank you!

Scary? Nah. He has GLASSES on. Rarely are people, or animals with glasses scary.  :)

Not scary, but not aesthetically pleasing, either; I prefer my cats with fur, thank you very much. Your glasses-sporting critter just looks a bit freaky … or “nerdy”?

Anyway, I liked your photo better.

How can anyone consider Yoda scary no matter what his skin condition. :)

It is what it is. Not scary though. do I like it? Not especially. It really doesn't matter though.

@ Lee - I was thinking pink Yoda myself. Lol :)

I say stick with it. It's your avatar and a reflection of your personality and If it makes you happy that's all that's important. I don't think an avatar is going to scare anyone away. If they read your posts they will soon find that you are a kind and generous contributor to this community regardless of what avatar you use.

I've gotten mixed comments about my avatar because of the white contacts. I've been told mine is a bit scary. Not necessarily here but in other places I use it. But I like it :)

Oh, thank you all for responding.  It's made me laugh.  Indeed how can anyone be afraid of any critter in glasses?  But no, I say again, I am no relation to Yoda although rumours flew about my mama and Yoda for years but she insists they were only good friends.

And no, I have no BAT in my background either.  In all, I decided that *I* really like this avatar so I planned to keep it even though none of you said you thought I (errr, my avatar) was cute.  I get tired of looking at my real-human mug on line even when I change it sometimes.  To me, this avatar looks intent, intelligent, articulate (well most times) and very sensitive ... just like me (which it is, LOL).  And the person who said it was scary said I should keep it and he now liked it if I liked it.

IMO, Mr. Peabody takes second place.  I mean, come on ... look at his nose then look at mine.  And his ears are, ahm ... flat, for goodness sakes.  Dignity isn't what comes to mind when you look at him, eh?  And no, my mama didn't know him on biblical level either!

I cannot believe you started this thread...you crack me up LR! As for the avatar...well, I always feel the urge to go get her a sweater.

Who would have known the ugliest creature on the ground was also highly socially organized and social. Interesting. ;)

NMR are the mascot of another group I participate in.

NMR - oh that is so funny!  You CAN'T belong to a group with that name, Bruce!  And no, that picture referenced is NOT one of my children ... geez ... that is how nasty rumours get started!   That's probably the ugliest critter on the planet!

Highly social, eh?  Well they'd have to be basing their relationships on personality because it sure ain't looks!  Hey, Ron, I thought you were just rolling your eyes!

And yes, Barbara, I DO get chilly at times - you are thoughtful to think of it!  In truth, the sun is my real enemy - really dries me out and makes my nose peel.  :-)

Well, in all I feel much better about my picture that I chose to show you all.  And Andy Gaunt at FMPug put the glasses on for me (I think around 2005), which adds my dignified look and I will be forever grateful to him for doing so.
