January 4, 201511 yr Hi Stephen, The downtime on this site was certainly worth it. It is very zippy!! Thank you so much for the improvements!
January 4, 201511 yr We moved to a brand hardware server an Intel® Xeon® CPU X3470 @ 2.93GHz Quad core with hyper threading that presents as 8 cpu's compared to our old one had 2 cpu's. Has the same amount of RAM 8GB but its 50% faster. Disks are about 20% faster on both read and write, they are still spindle drives, but in the next few months we may add a SSD drive and move the SQL database to that drive, to improve performance further. I want to thank every one of our Community Advertisers & Sponsors and Members to making FMForums your favorite FileMaker resource.
January 4, 201511 yr Certainly seems a great upgrade - very speedy here too.... unlike community.filemaker.com which is painfully slow here......
January 4, 201511 yr only the topics of conversation - the site is all php/mysql. - in the past I had used ESS to FMP to publish and pull data, haven't done so in a while.
January 6, 201511 yr I was a bit worried when I saw "estimated time of coming back, 3 PM PST," and after 5-6 hours of that time things still being down, that there was a Serious Problem. :)
March 8, 201510 yr The changes are really great! Btw, did you "buy/borrow/steal" the speed from FileMaker Inc after they switched to their new "Community"? It is very miraculous that you, with much less ressources than a large company, are able to come up with such a difference. Great work!
