I have a database that I use on ipad3 and iphone4 and 5 using FMGO14. My colleague is using it on a new iPad with FM14 and this new toolbar has shown up (highlighted in attached photo). Is this native to new iPads or FM14 and any ideas as to how I can get rid of it ?

I am incorporating barcode scanners into some of my layouts and just yesterday received a bluetooth CT-20 scanner. Available on Ebay for about $70. Setup was reasonably straight forward and seems to connect quickly to iphone5 when I turn it on. I need to change some of my scripts to improve functionality with FM. Will let you know how I get on.

Is it possible to freeze a part (e.g. Header or footer) in form view as is possible in List view ? I want to be able to scroll down a rather lengthy layout on an IOS device but still keep parts of the layout in a frozen state either at the top or the bottom of the screen. The frozen part would contain fields which display summary information for the current record as well as buttons for inputting data into the current record.

Oops I mean 11. Confused myself now!

Lee, that wasn't what I was asking(but I have often wondered that). I was asking specifically about the calculated result in the screen shot for the total result for "dedicated professional".

I don't have an answer but actually a question about the screenshot - why is the total for "dedicated professional" showing up as 12 when it is actually 13 ?

The app maker works very well. Just make sure you are using the IOS 7 version, assuming you have IOS 7 on your device. Also, if you have both FM12 and FM13 on your device you will have yo remove the FM12 for the app to work with a FM13 solution.

LaRetta Thanks so much for taking the time to provide such detailed advice. I often look at your feedback you post in this forum here as your comments are awsome and I have learnt so much from you and the other contributors. My database will be soley used on iOS and strange as it may seem, my users won't be adding or deleting records so I have disabled that ability by using custom privilges. They only need one button in table view and that is the toggle button, which I have placed in the header to take them back to Form view. So unless, there are any other hidden dangers that I have not covered my plan is to have the user toggle between Form and layout view. My testing todate on the IOS device has not uncovered any landmines...yet. Thanks again for your help. Nakizimbo.

But can I do this from TABLE view to FORM view. I have a toggle button for FORM view to TABLE view but then I loose the button when it goes to TABLE view

I have a data base well suited to Form View. Occasionally users will want to view as a table so I placed a toggle button on the layout to take them there. Is there any user friendly way to get them from Table View to Form View without them having to go to the default "menu" button and then selecting "Form" from the View option ?

Lee, quick question on copying text - how do you copy and paste a series of scripts for inserting into a forum post. I am sure this a simple way but I cannot work it out so had to resort to attaching a screen shot.

Thanks bcoony for your help, I should have checked the compatibility first. It seems strange to me that FMGo can export as well as save a .xlsx file but you cannot have a script to put that file into an email and populate the To, subject and message fields automatically. Anyhow, you have shown me how yo do that with a PDF so I am one step firther ahead. Cheers

As a filemaker novice I am having great difficulty getting the script correct so that I can send data from my filemaker database as an excel file from the iPad.  My script is as below. All I want to do is export all the fields as an Excel file from the current record being browsed. It works fine when I use the "Export Records" script and the user then manually chooses Type:Excel, and the email is created with the excel attachment ready for the user to type in the recipeint email address.  Any help on what I am missing would be appreciated. Using the script below I get everything I need except the attachment is not there.   Â

Eos and KaosMaker, thanks guys you are amazing. Have implemented this and it works a treat. Just what I needed. Quick question EOS, in your file you sent, you have two scripts in the "go" script which a marked by a #........no script just a #. What does this mean ?

Thanks for the advice. I have taken a look at this. the "list of" option does work for me as I have values in every field. I assume when you say I can calculate which record to go to directly this is done by eyeballing the list for my desired record and then using Go to record script (eg 3 out of 65) to take me there? Thanks KaosMaker. I can follow your thinking but I just can't make it work, most probably due to my limited knowledge when it comes to calculations. I know how to do looping scipts but wonder if you could tell me what script you had in mind to find the pattercount match within my found set. What I had was: Find Matching records [Extend records for trial plan for fm converted::plot[PatternCount ( trial plan for fm Converted::Plot ; trial plan for fm Converted::Go to plot )]] where "Go to plot" is the new global field I created for me to enter my criteria in to and "Plot" is the field that I am searching in. As I am only going to be searching in one field and it does not matter if it stops at the first match, I feel your solution should work for me. Thanks Lape - thats the problem when I close the NEW window it goes to the original record ...I want it to go to the found record.

I have a database which serves as a data collection device. Within a found set, I want to be able to navigate to a record (by doing a search within a specific field) which brings up that searched record but still within that found set. In other words, I do not want to loose my original found set after performing the search for a particular record. Any help is appreciated.

And I believe it has.
