lakeside Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 I see that we will still have to resize the columns in the Define Fields window every time we open it. Does anyone know if we can open the Define Fields window on a live database, or do we have to close everyone out of it like we do now? Oh, and does FileMaker still open every database (or table) that is referenced by a relationship or calculation like it does now?

Is the risk simply that of the server crashing when a developer is modifying fields? I am very excited about being able to work on new features without kicking people off. It's pretty rare for me to be changing things that people are using on a day to day basis. I typically develop new layouts with new fields, then have a meeting, introduce the new feature, then switch layouts, then delete old fields. It works good for me, except for the old Define Fields downtime.
