I am using Filemaker 7.

I have a client table that has my client information. I have another table

that has many items related to that client.

I have a third table that maps a unique client ID with the many unique Item

IDs related to that client.

What I want to be able to do is while I am inputting the client information,

save the unique client ID and then while I am inputting the related items in

the other table have that unique item and the client ID item put in my

mapping table automatically.

How can this be done?

I don't understand why you need the join table. Why not directly relate the client table to the client information table? You can use a portal on a client table layout to update the client information.
