White out when leaving one file for another

I'm converting a multiple file application from FM5 to FM7. When leaving one file for another via script the screen is white for almot a full second before the new window is presented. I had a similar problem FM5 years ago and found that hiding the file I left AFTER entering the new file's layout solved the problem but such is not the case with FM7. After some experimentation I isolated the step that causes the white out: "move/resize current window to size XXX" for the entering file. I have tried re-ordering the script steps, (hiding current file first or second, doing the move or resize earlier or later or via the leaving file's script...) but I cannot escape the white out. Any suggestions?

PS: FM7's slow speed and fuzzy unprofessional fonts have been discussed up the wazoo but I'll add my voice to the multitude.
