Perplexing error msg (click on browse screen)

Featured Replies

I'm getting a odd (at least it seems so to me!) error message; whenever I click on an empty spot on my "Home" layout in Browse mode this error pops up:

"This action cannot be performed because the required table is missing."

It acts as if the entire layout is a button that's trying to call a script.

All the other buttons on the page work fine.

I'm using an interface file that pulls data from three other files (each with multiple tables). There are no tables defined in the interface file.

I've checked everything I can think of and can't find anything amiss. But I can't release a DB that generates error messages anytime someone clicks on the main page!

Any ideas?

Thanks,

decker

Are there any related fields on this layout? Are the relationships shown in the TOG? Is it possible that a TO has been omitted?

You might have deleted the Table Occurance that the layout was referencing. Go into the Layout Setup and check that there is a valid Table Occurance assigned.

That's it. Thanks. I think what happened was that I originally had no fields at all, so didn't specify a table, but later added one global field (from settings file to insert the name of the organization on that screen).

Related question: Does a layout with *no* fields (i.e., a navigation layout with only buttons) require that a table be specified? Or must/should a table always be specified?

Thanks,

decker

Each layout must have a table (or TO) assigned to it.
