Fridolin Posted June 5, 2004 Posted June 5, 2004 Hi! I have a table with products and one with orders. Orders are registered in a portal and there are several lookup fields. Can I prevent the user permanently from performing a re lookup? Ideas are welcome!
RalphL Posted June 5, 2004 Posted June 5, 2004 I usually hide all menus and disable keyboard short cuts with SecureFM from NMCI. I also use record locking to prevent modification of any data in a record. I normally do that as part of the print script.
Fridolin Posted June 5, 2004 Author Posted June 5, 2004 Thanks for the input. The user must be able to manually edit everything in the order table. But changes in the product catalog mustn't effect already placed orders. The customer wont pay for 3:rd party software. Fridolin
dbruggmann Posted June 5, 2004 Posted June 5, 2004 Do you create new orders by script? Use the Set Field step instead of a lookup field.
RalphL Posted June 5, 2004 Posted June 5, 2004 Record locking is part of FMP since 5.5. I have deloper's license for SecureFM. Cost can be sread over all customers. I don't think I would release a database without it.
Fridolin Posted June 6, 2004 Author Posted June 6, 2004 Thanks! I'll take a look at SecureFM. 299$ and a couple of bucks per user is OK if its a good tool. Fridolin!
