I just recently made the jump from version 5.5 to FM7. It feels like a brand new world. Excited that they made all these great changes, but feels like I have to start my training all over again.

Anyway, I need some help. I downloaded FBT to take a look under the hood. Looks fantastic, but Excelisys didn't seem to make it easy to add additional NavIcons to the default of 8. I switched to layout view and select "modules." Back in browse, I added a new record which allowed me to add a new icon. Back in "settings" I increased the modules portal to show 9 records. My new icon now appears in the portal. Now, here's the big rub, how do I get it to display on the NavBar with other Icons? When I checked the modules layout, my new Icon has no AccessID, so I typed in number "10." Still, no good. I then discovered that in the "startup" script a command replaces all of the AccessID fields in the modules layout; thereby leaving my new Icon with no number again. Why does it do this? But more importantly, how can I add new NavIcons on the NavBar?

Please help. My brain is fried.

Hi kevh72, welcome to FMForums!

I just had a short look at the FBT, so I can't answer all of your questions:

1) You asked, why the startup script does replace the AccessID? This way it is controlled, which user can see which module icon in the NavBar.

2) It is done via the advanced privilege sets: For every module exists a advanced privilege set. So you have to create a new one for you new module and attach it to the user accounts.

3) In the module table you have to observe, that the visible name field really only is the label field! Place the real name field on the layout and insert the exact same name for the new module as in the privilege set.

4) How can you add new NavIcons on the NavBar? The fields for the NavIcons are repeatings of the field cNavIconCalc
