jeffer Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 Does somebody know the portnumber that filemaker client uses for network connections? thnx already!
Newbies pdrasnin Posted June 18, 2004 Newbies Posted June 18, 2004 is that for all versions of FMP Server (I am on Mac 5.5v4) I am have problems seeing hosted files as a local host across a VPN.
Will Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 pdrasnin - Can you see the files if you enter the IP address into the hosts dialog?
Newbies pdrasnin Posted June 18, 2004 Newbies Posted June 18, 2004 yes.. That works.. my problem is that an outside FMP devoloper needs access into our VPN to fix a password protected script to make it work remotely.. I always thought VPN meant Local Host for all clients accross the network.. Am I missing something.. Many thanks in advance..
Will Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 I believe it depends on your network setup - if your VPN assigns an IP address on the same subnet as the FileMaker machine hosting the databases then they should show up in the list - if not the developer will need to enter the IP. Some network devices will not pass the FileMaker hosts broadcast past the subnet.
