June 27, 200421 yr I would like to use hypertext functionality for going to other layouts rather than the buttons. I just don't like a lot of buttons and I think they look clunky if used in excess. I can "debutton" the button function so that it doesn't look like a button, by making the background of the button clear and setting the pen size of the button edges to none. I can also change the font to a different color (e.g. blue) and underlined. If I could give this a "mouse-over" effect so that my curson changes from an arrow (or any other effect to show the user that it is "hot"/hypertext) to say a hand when it goes over the "hot-spot" it would be complete. Is there any way to do this with the scripting or is there a plug-in for FMP 7. Am using it with WinXP(tablet PC) for single user and no internet/intranet need at present. I am blown away that this is not part of FMP as Apple "invented" hypertext functionality to my knowledge. Please advise. Doug Lazenby
June 27, 200421 yr No plug-ins or gizmos needed, it's all right there. Notice that when you either create a button or specify a button, you have a check box option to "Change to Hand Cursor over button". Notice also that you can specify any object as a button, even a block of text.
June 27, 200421 yr Author Bruce, Thanks very much for your speedy reply. This is exactly what I wanted. Like you said, you can hyperlink text (which would be a label field) that is on the layout, by just selecting that field with the mouse and then right-clicking "specify button" and then choosing the command/script and also selecting "change to hand cursor over button". I guess what threw me is I was thinking too concretely, and I thought it was going to put a button on the field. I really appreciate this. I used several key words in the FMP help file including "hypertext" and "hyperlink" and did not get any documentation. I don't know whether this is a documentation issue or poor choice of key words on my part. Regardless, this solves the problem. Doug
