Newbies Dave_F Posted July 8, 2004 Newbies Posted July 8, 2004 I work at a TV repair shop and have been using Nutplus for 15 years. We have 15 database files. 1 for each year. I am going to import the files into FMP as separate db's. What I would like to know is there a way to search all 15 databases in for a record of a customer's repair history info?
BruceJ Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 Why use 15 databases? I attached a simple file as an example. There's very littel user interface, that's up to you. You can search at any layout and it would include all 15 years. Ideally, you'd have one database with all of your records in it. Each record containing a date of the service, thus separating the data by year if neccesary. The best solution is to have at least three tables in your database: 1. Customer Info 2. Device Info 3. Services Then, each customer can contain many devices, which in turn can have many repairs. Oh - by the way - congrats for being in business for 15 years! TV_repair.zip
Newbies Dave_F Posted July 9, 2004 Author Newbies Posted July 9, 2004 Thanks. TV repair is a dieing business. We are the only repair shop left in our city. I would like to thank you again for the info on using the search.
