Hello Again! To review my database structure: I have created a database with one "main" table and several other "sub" tables that are linked back to the "main" table via a common field in the relationships screen. My layouts are setup to have the database open in the "main" table's layout and then switch to other layouts that are defined in one of the "sub" tables environment based on which table I'm using. Any other information I need in one of those layouts from another table I generally view via a portal.

A couple of additional questions (ie pains in my side!!)

1. When attempting to print a layout which contains portal views in other tables, how can I print the specific record AND at the same time omit records in the portal windows I do not want. For instance, I want to print a Joe Smiths record in a layout. In that layout, I have two portal windows to two other tables that have records noted as being either active or inactive (by simply denoting a field to be a Y or N field (Y = active, N = inactive). How can I print the record with only the active records in the portal windows?

2. Does anybody know if a portal window can be oriented vertically?

Thanks to all,

Shane

Shane,

Generally it is good practice to print records from the table where the data actually resides, not from the portal. In other words, don't print from the layout with a portal showing the record, go to the table where the portal records are being pulled from and create a print layout there.

As far as a vertical portal, I haven't seen that before.

HTH, Mike
