developing custom web solutions in 7

sorry if this has been asked a thousand times, I can't seem to locate the answer in my searches though I've seen the question asked before when 7 first came out.

I want to develop a fairly simple web solution in FMD7 but just like I did in 6 using CDML, i.e without the hokey IWP interface. I have developer 7 & 6 and far prefer 7, but I can't seem to figure out if I need server advanced to develop custom web solutions. I'm not going to serve, only develop then host with a pro host company.

I can't find anything in the dev7 materials about custom web, other than you need SA to host it. Can I develop in Dev7 and then send it to the hosting co? How would I preview/test it then? If I've got to put out another 2500 just to develop, it's not worth it.

Any help much appreciated... confused.gif

CDML is no longer supported in FMP 7. We'll have to use XML/XSL/XSLT/XMLT/XXXS/XOXO (or whatever it's called), Lasso, PHP or some other middleware.

That said, have you tried out FMP 7's IWP yet? It isn't "hokey" like that in FMP 6, in fact it may be all you need.

And to answer your other question, yes, Server Advanced is required for custom web publishing with v7.
