relative file paths for images on CD

Featured Replies

When importing photos, I choose link but the paths are coded as absolute. If I burn the fp7 database with it's linked photos to a CD, the images aren't found because it's still looking for my computer's partition/folder structure.

I want to make it default to using relative paths when importing images or files into a container field.

Any suggestions on where to set this?

I think I figured it out myself.

I already had the filepath coming into a text field. So I set up a new text field with a calculation in it. It uses the substitute

function to change the filepath text from absolute to relative by dropping off

the "file://C:/etc" and changing to "image:"

When importing records (photos), I don't delegate the source image to a target container field. Instead I changed the image container field to look at the text field for its reference by including a calculation option.

Any comments from someone who knows what they're doing would be appreciated. I'm bumbling around in the dark here. Only been doing this for 2-3 weeks.
