My database with 3900 records became damaged. I was not at work when it happened so have no history. When I used the Recover command it crashed Filemaker. We have Mac OS X at work and that's where I attempted to recover it. So I did a backup, brought it home and tried to recover it on my PC, Windows XP. No luck, it still crashed Filemaker. Any suggestions?

Hi -

When you tried the recovery where was the location of the file?

the reason I ask is sometimes if you have placed the damaged file(s) within a folder such as My documents or even the Desktop the path to the file becomes so long that the recovery does not work.

Try placing the damaged file within the hard drive root folder (such as the C: drive) and then running recover again.

BonnieJoy,

Your file doesn't sound that large - why don't you attach it and we'll take a look at it.

send me your file. i will look at it , too.

regards,

kyle

Sorry I never got back to you. I was able to use a backup I had made with little updating to do. Thanks for the input.
