Newbies MattBehan Posted September 1, 2004 Newbies Posted September 1, 2004 Hi Can someone tell me if I can make a standalone executable (.exe) database that I could run on different machines with File Maker Pro?? Thanks
RalphL Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 You need the developer version to do this. You must make a version for Windows on a Windows machine and a Macintosh version on a Macintosh. These are single user only, I.e., no networking or web capabilities.
Newbies MattBehan Posted September 2, 2004 Author Newbies Posted September 2, 2004 Hi RalphL Thanks for replying. The reason I asked is because I was at my local Vets the other day and I was interested in their Practice Management system. This system managed the entire practice from ordering new supplies to all animal details. The system was networked in some way as my animals details poped up on the screen as the next patient. The system seemed to have been created by FileMaker. Matt
RalphL Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 My vet has a similiar system which is networked because they have several computers. The runtime will not work in this case. Best bet is server and FMP on rest of the machines.
