smower Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 Does anybody know anyway to open a FileMaker file on the host and automatically make it run a script from an email hyperlink or send them to a certain record in a hosted database (not a web page from FMServer Advanced)? We have currently been attaching a FileMaker database, copying a dynamic record number into it and using an opening script which will send people to certain hosted databases and records but would like to find a way to do it without a database attachment, since it makes so many databases in a corporate environment and makes conversion upgrading more time consuming. Is there anything like this available from email, from the command line, etc.? File:Hostsfmhosts$mydatabase.fp7 -myscript Thanks in Advance, Shawn
Computer Geek Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 There is a remote administration plug-in on the FileMaker website that when deployed on a particular computer will "listen" for a command from other FM Computers. When it receives the command, it executes a script. I never used it, just read about it. If you do use it, just be careful, since this sounds like a huge security hole.
smower Posted September 22, 2004 Author Posted September 22, 2004 Hi, Thanks for the response. Do you where url wise to find it. I have been searching on their website, but am unable to locate it. Thanks, Shawn
