Way to lock field so it can't be edited unless...

Featured Replies

Hi-

Is there a way to "lock" a field so that it can't be edited without first performing an action (pressing a button/clicking checkbox). I want to be able to have users enter data into a field, then once it is in there, lock it so that it can't accidently be edited. If they want to edit it later, they would first have to push an "edit field" button or something similar. Can this be done? Thanks for any help, I value all the brains on this site!

I think what I would do would be to have 2 identical layouts. One with the field editable. Then when they click the button, have it switch to the layout with the editable field.

May be a better way of doing it but it should work.
