November 17, 200421 yr Newbies I have installed the version 3 upgrade. Prior to the upgrade to version 3, in Filemaker 7 I had option to, when paste text in browse mode, to keep the text formatted as the layout was designed (ie: would not carry the font and formatting of where I was copying from, into the record, rather it would keep the formatting as you set it in the layout). Now it has reverted back to keeping the formatting of the where I copied from and I can not fnd option to make it keep layout formatting. - Arggg this is a pain in the butt and was one of the reasons I loved Filemaker 7, because you could achieve this without any scripting. I am thinking of reverting back to 7.0 but if anyone can I help I would like to keep 7v3.
November 20, 200421 yr OK. I guess I wasn't halucinating. I knew FP7 didn't have a way to easily remove text formatting, but it never affected me until the v3 update. Then text started pasting in with fonts carried over from Safari, and I thought I was losing my mind. I'm not sure if there's a setting somewhere to adjust this behavior, or if this change is some sort of "bug fix." Regardless, I worked up a bug fix, which is posted on the "Tips, Tricks, and Techniques" forum under "Unformatting text in filemaker 7". The original version was a custom function, but I've now reposted the file with a similar calculation to remove text formatting in an auto-enter calculation field. Its fixed the problem for me. -Terence
