Asks for account name, password. Can't open $^%&%

It just locks me out. Asks for account name and password or whether I want to change the password. I never created a password. I create a file, save it and the next time I can't get in. What is going on?

FileMaker creates a default Account "Admin", with no password (ie., blank). Try that.

Tried that, thanks, but no luck. It states: "The account name and password you entered does not match those for any filemaker account." It happens to every database I create. Or have sent over by someone.

I had been having this same problem...each database created will prompt for a login and pass the next time it is opened...I'll tell you, the idea of automatically creating an Admin account is a pretty good one. This solution did the trick for me. I don't know if it'll make a difference, but I made sure to put in the 'Admin' login with a capital 'A'...you may have already tried that, but I think it warrants saying again...:

Thanks for the help, Fenton!

If you converted the files from 5 (as in my case), then any passwords that were set on the files for 'guest' access have now had accounts created.

i.e. if the password on the file in 5.0 was 'fred' then when converted to 7.0

account name: fred

password: fred
