I've got an FM 7 server on a machine in my office, and I have FM 7 Dev on my laptop. My laptop uses the name GHOSTFROG. Sometimes when I try to log into the database, I get warnings about a license key violation when I try to connect. This is happening fairly often, and happens regardless of whether I close FileMaker properly or get disconnected..

"The maximum number of licensed users are currently using this copy of FileMaker Pro. Please refer blah blah blah... License Key conflict occurred with user "GHOSTFROG"

In other words, the server thinks I'm still connected and trying to connect a second time, even if I properly shut down the application previously. I end up having to restart the server to clear the bogus connection, which is inconvenient when it's in a building across town in the middle of the night. Has anyone else experienced this bug? Is there a fix to prevent this from happening?

I'm not using server, but I remember this happening with FMP sharing back in the 7v1 days. I haven't had a problem like that since, unless I have a client crash, then it seems to take a while to let me in again, but I haven't had to restart the copy of FMP that is hosting the file.

One thing I've noticed is that sometimes when I'm switching between my copy of FMDev on a Mac and On a PC for testing (only one license since I don't use them at the same time), that sometimes I have to wait a bit before switching between them or the host thinks there is a license conflict.

I've noticed that this only seems to happen when I'm using my wireless connection. At least it has not happened so far when connected via ethernet.

This is darned inconvenient, since it means I can't use my laptop in the bathtub. wink.gif
