AnFrusch@pepp Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Hello All, I have read this note about filemaker maintenance somewhere: "The Recover command aggressively attempts to correct a file so you can open it and recover your data. To do this, the Recover process may delete corrupt fields, layouts, layout objects, scripts, and data. For this reason, you should only use the Recover command when you cannot open a file. Do not use this command for regular file maintenance" I really don't know what can be considered 'regular maintenance' at this point. Maybe I can create a compacted copy, or create an empty clone and import only data from the original file.. I don't know. Does anybody can suggest a procedure to maintain a filemaker 7 file w/out recover it? thank you.
gdurniak Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 recover is the most mis-understood utility ever written, used to restore DATA from a damaged file for more info, see here: http://www.filemaker.com/ti/102102.html and here: http://masdevelopment.com:3455/1/57?view=print
