I just purchased Filemaker 7 and I am completely new to the environment. I am poking around in the program to get a feel for it.

Question:

In the inventory template that comes with the program there is a feature in the layout I can't figure out. There is a field to enter item for the item field. Above it in the layout the item text is displayed after you input it. If you look at the object in layout mode it shows <<Item>>. If I right click on this it does not give me the "specify field" option. I know it is linked to the item field. IF I delete the item field I get <<field is missing>> in layout mode.

I know I am missing something really obvious. What is it?
