scottvaughan Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Does anyone know how to set the color of a field based on its' value? Basically, I have a schedule. I have due dates. As the due date approaches, I would like to have the color of the due date filed change. Green if I have a week, yellow 3 days, red 1 day as an example.

Lee Smith Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Hey JT, Could you speed up your replies? LOL BTW, the graphic is the old Generic Windows "Flag" so for us it doesn't show what you wanted. Sorry to be the barrier of bad news. Lee
-Queue- Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Gah! I hate that. Does the newly-attached one work better?
scottvaughan Posted June 16, 2005 Author Posted June 16, 2005 How did you get the colors into the container fields?
LaRetta Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Go to Layout 2. Copy the color swatch and paste it again on the layout. Change it's color. Then copy it (CTRL-C). Go to Browse and paste it in the correct repetition.
Lee Smith Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Just download using the same Attachment, he changed it. HTH Lee
NYPoke Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Goodness me, I don't want to call this hacking, but if I did, it would be a pretty impressive job of it. Is this a standard use of a Container? I've honestly never used a Container. I guess it was because I didn't know what to do with them.
-Queue- Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Yes, container calculations are often used as visual flags.
NYPoke Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Let's see if I get this. I could create 1 Global Container that contains Green, Yellow & Red. I could then create a Container field for each important field I want to signal (Overdue Account, Posting Complete, Repossession) - all using the same Global Container field for my Color Signals. Then, I can change the shape/size of the Per Field Containers on each Layout & Arrainge(sp?) them behind the field they are associated with. Have I got the idea? Anyway to place a Text/Number field directly into the Container, so that I don't have two buttons/fields on the layout?
-Queue- Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Yes, yes, yes, yes, and no. You can put a text/number field or a merge field on top of the container, so that it appears to be part of the container though.
