My company recently bought volume licenses of Pro 6 & Server 5.5 from FileMaker, since it's nearly impossible for clients to buy these versions anymore. Our product is not currently available in V7, but will be soon.

Anyway - we initially bought 50 Pro licenses, and will "divide" them up as clients need them, or in other words, we're reselling them. I didn't know this at first, but they give you one key# for all 50 licenses. I suppose there is nothing preventing a client from installing Pro more times than we sold them, up to 50 times. Most clients have 3-5 workstations using FileMaker, and 1 Server. I'm not worried about a client installing Server more than once, as this would give no advantage.

Is there anyway to prevent the above from happening? I don't think anyone will be dishonest with this, but we've had troubles with clients in the past. I figured that this would have to be programed into the software, but I don't know where to begin. Please remember, this is FM6 we're looking at. If you have any ideas for V7, I would like to hear them to, as this will come up soon enough.

Hmm, not sure volume licenses are meant to be resold in this manner.

As for Server, I believe Server checks the network when it launches to make sure its license isn't already in use (if it is in use, it won't run.)

Whoops - I meant to say SBA (Solution Bundle Agreement) instead of VLA. Big difference there.

From the time I initially posted, I thought about the Status(CurrentUserCount) or Get(UserCount) might be a viable solution, but I'm still open to any suggestions.
