Niet32 Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 I created a database at work and the company wants to distrobute it to other branches. Is there a way to do this without having to buy the full version of FM for each user? If so any info would be appreciated. Thanks
Reed Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 If the database is not a multi-user network application, then you can use a copy of Filemaker Developer to create standalone runtime applications for windows and macintosh. The main limitation of the runtimes is their lack of ability to do client-server type networking. They also of course don't have the ability to edit the database design in any way (no layout tools, define database... etc.) If the database needs to be networked throughout the entire company, then you'll need to get enough FMP clients to cover all the users. You can also use Windows Terminal Services or Citrix to provide remote access. Finally, you could publish the database to the web using anything from instant web publishing to XSLT to Lasso, or PHP.
