Portal Issues Help please

O.k. I'm new to this whole Filemake pro thing so bear with me. I got a copy of FMP 7 from an old boss of mine when he changed to FMP 8 and I'm muddeling through as best I can and so far so good. I've put together a Database with just about everything that I or anyone else in the family may need so it is all in one place and have run into a portal issue. I got it put together and all of that through so major web searching and a lot of quick learning and now it is saying that I need to have a "Valid Value" in a specific field. The field is what I'm trying to make modifiable with the portal in the first place and is just a number based field. I can still enter all the information in and all, but it is much easier to go to one local to enter it all than two diffrent sheets and then I can cross refrence the two Tables into one report come tax time and that is where I'm looking to simplify my life with this more than entering the information anyways. I'm attaching a copy of my database to this so you can see what I'm talking about. It's the data entry Layout that is where the portal is located. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
