?Accounting for Business? Similar to Quickbooks?

Featured Replies

I've searched and searched. Is there any third party software or templates that are available for FM that will keep all my bookkeeping for my business? I've never used quickbooks and don't want to because I'm running a Mac and heard Quickbooks for Mac is not worth it. I just need bookkeeping for a Lawn & Landscape business with employees. Any help or direction is appreciated.

Thank You.

I don't know about any account templates but Ive just switched over to a mac and use MYOB 'Accounting' works great.

Anybody know how I can use my customers table in FM to update the Customers fields in MYOB Accounting

I don't have MYOB, but I've heard that they have AppleScript support. Look at their AppleScript dictionary. To see it, add MYOB to your Script Editor Library (Window ->Library), or drop the application onto the Script Editor icon, or open it.

FileMaker has fairly extensive AppleScript support, though it is somewhat poorly documented in the latest versions; no example files, etc.. But it can be fairly easy to transfer info, example (pseudo code, as I don't have MYOB). I imagine it would be much like transferring data to other apps such as iCal or Address Book.

One thing you would definitely want to have would be a way to match "records" (whatever MYOB calls them). Hopefully MYOB uses some unique identifier, like a real database. You would need to pass that to FileMaker for every person (maybe using the name once to do this; if they are exactly the same; the common data problems apply). Once you have a shared ID, you're in business.
