Numbering records.

I am use a database with over 65000 records. I would like to write a script to place a sequential number after each find. I know that this probably a simple task but I can't find the solution

Couldn't you use script step "Replace Field Contents > Serial Numbers"? Depending on what it was to be used for, you might need to Show Omitted Records and clear any previous entries in your serial number field.
