JRStudent Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Hello, I am a total beginner. I have a layout which includes radio buttons. Then I started a second layout for a different table, and for some reason I can't get radio buttons to work anymore. When I go through the steps, I get a value list but no buttons. Just the list of choices, like this: Male Female Where'd those buttons go!!! I did it before so I know the instructions worked once, anyway. Thanks!
mr_vodka Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Double check your pen settings (pattern, color, width)
JRStudent Posted May 18, 2007 Author Posted May 18, 2007 I don't see anything there. I never changed those, so they should be the same as when the stupid buttons worked. Any other tips?? Thanks!
Lee Smith Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 (edited) It sounds like you have either chosen a Drop Down Menu, Drop Down List, or changed it's attributes in some way. Whether, or not you remember doing it...., well, stuff happens, so it is good to verify, and reverify the possibilities, even when you can swear that you didn't change anything. As John stated, check its attributes. All you have to do is highlight the field in layout mode, and check to see if you have select a Line fill and size (the options at the bottom left under the rolodex). Or, Right Click your mouse. If these suggestions don't work, then attach a file to your next Reply. HTH Lee Edited May 18, 2007 by Guest
JRStudent Posted May 21, 2007 Author Posted May 21, 2007 Yes, I think I changed the attributes somehow without knowing what I was doing! I started a different FM project today and the radio buttons worked just fine. But I still need to make it work on the first project. I looked at the attributes as best I could but I don't see anything funny. When you say attach a file, you mean I should attach a copy of the database in question?
Lee Smith Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 You can zip a file, and then attach it to your reply. If we can examine your file, maybe we can point out what is wrong so you can fix it. For information on how to attach a file, look under the Help Menu >> Frequently Asked Questions. Posting Messages >> Can I attach files to my post? HTH Lee
FrankNewbie Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 (edited) I just had this exact problem myself. Turned out to be the "pen" settings! The thing is, if you can see the choices, like Male Female the buttons may actually be working, but since the buttons are displayed as white dots in white circles on a white background, they just don't show up. Go >> Layout mode >> select troubled radio button area >> click the bottom rainbow globe in the status area on the left >> select a color for more contrast (not white). This is what worked for me. JRStudent Posted May 22, 2007 Author Posted May 22, 2007 I tried the pen settings, nothing works. I will try attaching the zip file of the database. There are two layouts. One layout the buttons work, the other layout the buttons don't work. Thank you for looking at this for me. If they had a smiley icon for pulling your hair out, that's the one I'd use. Raybaudi Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Hi it's a pen problem... you have to select the field and to make the pen plain ( not trasparent ) and 1 point.
JRStudent Posted May 22, 2007 Author Posted May 22, 2007 Thank You!! I didn't understand how the pen settings worked but after your post I kept messing with it until -- voila -- radio buttons appeared. Whew!
Raybaudi Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Nothing... BTW: if you re-read mr Vodka's and Lee's answers, you'll know that they said the same thing :
JRStudent Posted May 23, 2007 Author Posted May 23, 2007 Yes, they were all right! Like I said, I didn't understand pen settings. The last post was specific enough to push me in the right direction. Still can't say I understand pen settings. I think I need a more complete reference book. Thanks to all that replied!
