Newbies Jazajar Posted June 14, 2009 Newbies Posted June 14, 2009 I am totaly new to FMP and am using FMP 10 on a Mac. I am looking for help with my very first database, what I want to be able to do is click on button on a date in a Calendar solution and have it bring up a and display in a new window a record from another database that is specific to that date. ie. There are 365 documents each specific to a calendar date and if I click on for example 25/07 I want it to display the relevant document. Will this be possoble to achieve? and if yes how?
mr_vodka Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Sure but I dont think we can help you in detail if you do not provide us some further details such as table names, field names, etc. For example, are your documents in container fields? P.S. Welcome to the forums. -)
Newbies Jazajar Posted June 14, 2009 Author Newbies Posted June 14, 2009 John, Thanks for your reply. I am using as the main interface the Calendar solution from John Osborne at Database pros. I want to be able to click on a button placed in each date of the year to bring up a record from a table called Rubrics. This 'Rubrics' solution has a different 'rubric' for each day of the year. Some have text but none have container fields, each record (all 366 of them) is different and corresponds to a different day of the year. Many thanks for your help. Bob
mr_vodka Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 I am unfamiliar with John's file but most likely all you will have to do it create a relationship from his child table for dates to your Rubrics table ( or table occurrence ) keyed on date. You may also be able to import your data depending on his file structure.
Newbies Jazajar Posted June 16, 2009 Author Newbies Posted June 16, 2009 I have tried several different ways but without success.....I tried a script which will open the file but not the page I want (always opens at smae page) Do you have any samples of what I should be doing? Getting rather desperate here.
Søren Dyhr Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 John's approach have been lively debated here as well: http://fmforums.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/176396/tp/1/ ...I would suggest you poke into the templates swirling around in that thread before setting you mind strongly on event trigger utilization, which might have a point in your case, I just fail to see it on the info you have provided this far ... I want to be able to do is click on button To me is this either/or and not a bit of both?? But then again I'm a mac user ... with stiff expectations to what an interface would let me encounter of sudden actions! --sd
