panchristo Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Some years ago, before script triggering was integrated into FM, a great plugin had provided similar functionality, triggered from calculations. Here's the question: Do you think the plugin is obsolete now, or is it the fact that it is based on the update of calculations, could be considered as a measure to provide added security to field updating (initiated by such a trigger) done at a table level and not in the layout?
comment Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 There is no security to field updating via a script - no matter how it's being triggered. If your data integrity depends upon a script running successfully, you should re-examine your approach.
panchristo Posted June 7, 2010 Author Posted June 7, 2010 Hmm...True, I think I get your point, however isn't it one step ahead safer? In terms of being updated regardless of the "proper" layout at least... When talking about security I meant from the data integrity point-of-view
comment Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 isn't it one step ahead safer? I don't know. I think you are asking which is better: faulty brakes or no headlights.
panchristo Posted June 7, 2010 Author Posted June 7, 2010 Hahaha, ok got it. Truly ingenious comment, made me laugh....
panchristo Posted June 7, 2010 Author Posted June 7, 2010 By the way, can it be used for the implementation of an audit log?
