Concurrent Connections WebDirect

Featured Replies

If you purchase 5 concurrent connections to WebDirect, does that mean only 5 people can be logged into the database via WebDirect?  Or does it mean Filemaker Server will only respond to 5 concurrent requests/interactions simultaneously.  In other words, what happens if you have 5 people signed in, but only 1 of them is actually interacting with the database.  If a 6th person connects are they denied access?

It is 5 logged-in users, even if they are not doing anything

Actually it would be the 7th user as you get one concurrent connection included with FMS

Thanks!  Is there an easy way to force a user to log out if they haven't been accessing the database after a certain time interval?  In other words, deactivate inactive connections to open up access to other users?

Yes, on FMS in the configuration area under WebDirect here is a time-out setting.  Default is 15 minutes.

hey Wim - what does FMS use as "activity" open records close records? i was going to say clicking - but any clicks i imagine inherit with opening a record - unless there is also activity clicking on any of the menu items in WD... but not necessary on an open record.

could a person be disconnected while reading text but not in a field?

or is time out start after the last action, like if i closed the window but didn't explicitly log out?
