Newbies DMullane Posted December 2, 2014 Newbies Posted December 2, 2014 Hey guys, I've been trying to move all my tables from FileMaker to Access, all the data and the layout and everything. I sadly have next to no experience with either program. I've seen a link to FmPro Migrator posted in some places. Is this a trustworthy application, and will I do what I'm wanting, or am I misunderstanding it? Or is there an even easier way to do this? I haven't found much help for FileMaker 13, so I wasn't sure if maybe there was a new feature that made this easier.
Wim Decorte Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 No new features. I doubt that you'll find much help here. You may find a few posts of people going the other way (Access to FM). What's the reasoning behind the move if I may ask? Access is a lot less scalable than FM.
Newbies DMullane Posted December 2, 2014 Author Newbies Posted December 2, 2014 We just want more members of our group to be able to access the database, and right now Access is available to many more people than FileMaker.
Wim Decorte Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 You may be able to set yourself up for a lot of hurt. Access is not as scalable as FM is and will start acting up (including corrupting the database) when you add more users. Typically issues can start around 5-10 users (depends on the design and the nature of interactions of course).
