Newbies gedb Posted January 16, 2001 Newbies Posted January 16, 2001 I've had problems while using the web companion. Sometimes databases just close by themselves. I've experienced this on 2 different servers, and with filemaker 4.1 and now with filemaker 5 unlimited. The only thing I'm sure of is that it occurs when users are accessing the database via web companion. It happens when users have tried to search for a large amount of records, but its really hard to reproduce it. Any ideas? Will filemaker close a database to prevent an error, or if it runs out of resources? Any idea?

dwal Posted January 25, 2001 Posted January 25, 2001 I had the same problem up til a few weeks ago. After the next time FMP5 quits go to the Access log file to see the last file requested. In my case I found it was one of my web pages. The page is for searching the FMP5 database and returns a large found set. I changed two things and I do not know which solved the problem. One, there are two search fields. One of the search fields is a related field. This really slows down searching. I changed the search field so it is not a related field. Two, one search field is a number field but I had mistakenly made it possible for a text value to be entered into this field on the web page.
LiveOak Posted January 26, 2001 Posted January 26, 2001 Anatoli, Is it still possible to buy a new NT license, not just add a license or has W2000 completely replaced NT from a Microsoft sales perspective? -bd
Anatoli Posted January 26, 2001 Posted January 26, 2001 quote: Originally posted by gedb: PC. Windows 2000 advanced server. I would hesitate to use FM on W2000. It is probably still not certified. It is rock solid on NT4 platform. Everyone has some kind of problem with W2000. And with MacOS also some. att.gif.zip

Anatoli Posted June 20, 2002 Posted June 20, 2002 We have the same for Macs and Word 5.1. MS told us, that we could copy and use the software on new machines if we have e.g. Office98.
