  1. Excellent - yes there will only be one occurrence in the field. Worked perfectly. Thank you so much.
  2. I retrieve email records into a database for a to do list. The body of the email becomes the task. I want to be able to send emails to the databse with a date in the subject. I used "***dd/mm/yyyy***" as a pattern in another database so that when this pattern appeared in the body it was extracted and placed in the due date field. I am trying to work out how to do that. I use a script to import the emails into the tasks database and I would like to process the new revords by extracting any date and putting it in the due date.
  3. I have a parent table which has 3 child tables all of which have a date field. I would like to have a field in the parent table which tells me what is the latest date in the 3 child tables so I know the last time there was activity relating to the parent record. I can figure it out.
  4. I gather there was an update overnight....and its not working again: has Microsoft taken over apple/claris? Becoming a joke
  5. so now I cannot get this to work on my laptop machine
  6. this worked for me too - thanks
  7. don't think thats the issue
  8. Has catalina broken scribe?
  9. I restarted filemaker 17 and got the gmanipulator splash screen. So I thought the logical thing to do was disable the gmanipulator plugin. Do that. Filemaker crashes. Restart. Crashes. Do that 10 times. Then I found the suggestion use the uninstall tool in the download package. yeah right! Delete everything I can find with gmanipulator in it. Restart 10 times. Reboot. Restart. Crashes. Uninstall FMP17. Reboot. Reinstall FMP17. Restart. Crashes. do that 10 times. Reinstall gmanipulator. makes no difference. Completely stuffed up my solution and given me no access to FileMaker.
  10. Using this calculation: "Middle(Messages::Cc;Position(Messages::Cc;"<";1;1)+1;Position(Messages::Cc;">";1;1)-Position(Messages::Cc;"<";1;1)-1) I get only the first email address in the Cc field. It has "fancy names" so to make it work I have first strip out the "name" - which is what the calc above does. I am trying to avoid creating a new field for the list - I was trying to do it by a variable which why I included recursive as a tag - I hoped I might be able to go through the CC field until I had somehow parsed all the addresses in it.
  11. I am trying to write a script to permit me to respond to emails received into fmp. I have successfully written the calculation to extract the email address from the "from" field in which the data is presented "Joes Bloggs <Joe_bloggs@email.com>. I cannot work out how to do the same for the CC field. The data is in the same format but there are typically multiple CC recipients and so I need to extract the text between <> sequentially. Any clues?
  12. So there’s no inherent reason it won’t work with Dropbox...
  13. See answers in body of message above ~ I am trying to archive a file which is in a dropbox folder to a dropbox folder.
  14. I am trying to create an archive functionality in FMP 17. In the demo when I fill in all the relevant fields and click "zip" a file is created (with the wrong name and no zip extension) and Filemaker then hangs requiring an external quit. the same happens when I test the process in my solution. Any ideas?
  15. I am evaluating 360works email plugin and when getting messages from an office365 server I get the following error "java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: -99"...If I click OK it reduces to "98" but then increases: I assume its retrieving messages and this is the count. Any ideas?
  16. I have a pretty simple document generation and management solution to which I would like to add an email capability. I would like to be able to have my email attachments dealt with FileMaker so as to be given a unique name and allow me to save them to my HD all in Macintosh. Any body interested in taking on this task for me? I will buy whichever plugin will do the best job or suits the successful consultant. Management_Clone.fmp12
  17. Thanks for your input. I looked at aws and it was about the same. Also a 360works plugin would not work. i think my problem is because FileMaker decided to change the “purchase” model to one which doesn’t really work for amateurs like me. I’ve been with it since it first appeared on pc’s and its availability on Mac when I switched years ago was a factor in my decision to switch. reading between the lines of your replies I am going to be left high and dry shortly. None of the online substitutes like Airtable are as flexible.
  18. I’ll keep playing. Thanks.
  19. I am with FMPHost and if I try to open my solution in fmp17 it tells me its not compatible - so I have to go over to fmp17 hosting which is 4 times more expensive. I have 2 users.
  20. I use my solution on 2 different desktop machines. What I can't work out is how to go to the dropbox folder on each in the first place (i.e. the relative path (I think - Im an amateur)) - obviously the folder/file structure inside dropbox is the same on both machines. can you get the files in subfolders in a single calc too?
  21. I am wondering if there is a way for file manipulator to "know" the path to dropbox and folders inside it so it can automatically tell me what files are in named folders within dropbox. At the moment I have to refresh a get files calculation.
  22. Has the recent Mac update broken filmmaker 16? I would love to move to 17 but the cost of hosting it on any of the hosting services is prohibitive. Is filemaker forsaking me and driving me to airtable?
  23. Thanks for the help. FMPHost tell me: "Yes, this is what I was afraid of. Scribe is killing WebD. I will remove the copy of the plugin from web publishing location. But, as you can see, it won't stay toggled on in the admin console. I had a customer back in November who had this exact issue and 360Works had to issue him a patched plugin." any ideas?
