July 11, 20169 yr Hello Mavens, I would be interested in some tips and suggestions about setting up a functionality, not sure if it would be script or something else, that would quit FM after a period of inactivity, reset with activity. Muchas gracias
July 14, 20169 yr I don't know of a really good solution for that. In theory, you could install an OnTimer script that closes the file and re-install it on every activity. In practice, it's difficult to define "activity" and to attach a script trigger to every instance. Furthermore, an OnTimer script is window-specific. What is your purpose here? What are you trying to prevent?
July 15, 20169 yr Author I have a file that resides on a Dropbox folder. I open it form 2 different locations. Sometimes I forget to quit the file in location A and when I open it at location B it is not current. I thought that I implement a timer so even if I forget to close it, it closes itself after some time of inactivity.
July 15, 20169 yr You what? No. just no. You are asking for corruption and file death.. How important is this data? What is it for? Host the file, and use FileMaker how it's meant to be used. And through DropBox is *never* the answer....

Could you not leave it open at location A permanently and log on as a client from location B?http://www.filemaker.com/help/15/fmp/en/#page/FMP_Help%2Fsharing-hosting.html%23
