Troi Automatisering releases Troi File Plug-in 8.6.1 for FileMaker Pro 15

Updated file management plug-in for FileMaker Pro 15 improves UnZIP, Metadata and several other functions.

Alphen aan den Rijn, Netherlands, 23 January, 2017--Troi Automatisering today announced the immediate availability of Troi File Plug-in 8.6.1 for FileMaker Pro 15.

What is new in version 8.6.1?

Version 8.6.1 is a maintenance update of our plug-in for manipulating external files and folders directly from FileMaker Pro. In this version we improved the handling on Windows of certain ZIP files with the TrFile_UnZIP function. This version also improves parsing newer PDF versions, like PDF 1.7 with the TrFile_MetaData( "-GetPDFDescription") function. On MacOS X the TrFile_MetaData( "-GetMovieDescription") function now returns timecode data for movies. Several other functions were improved as well and we fixed some potential problems with the DragAndDrop function on macOS X.

I am trying to get a page count from a PDF file stored in a container field. ScribeDocLoad is successful. Next I'm attempting to use ScribeDocReadValue to get the PDFPageCount. The variable $LastPage is set to ScribeDocReadValue( "PDFPageCount" )
This parameter, or any other of the metadata values listed in the documentation, results in an error like "Reading values is not supported for the file PDFPageCount"
      The documentation reads like this:
Am I fundamentally misunderstanding what this is supposed to do? The PDF file has no formal "fields." Its just a scanned PDF.

Updated file management plug-in is compatible with FileMaker 17 and adds new functionality.

Alphen aan den Rijn, the Netherlands, May 15, 2018–Troi today announced the immediate availability of Troi File Plug-in 10.0 for FileMaker 17.

      What is Troi File Plug-in?

Troi File Plug-in is a very powerful tool for getting access to information outside the FileMaker database. Any files or folders stored on the computer can be accessed through the functions of the plug-in. All from within FileMaker you can:

      - get data from files that are on the disk of the computer into FileMaker
      - create files anywhere on the hard disk and put data from FileMaker fields into them
      - manipulate files and folders on the disk: this includes creating, deleting, copying, moving and modifying files and folders
      - get the size on disk, creation and modification dates and much more
      - launch and reveal files directly from FileMaker
      - manage your images and movies, including reading and writing metadata

What is new in version 10.0?

Troi File Plug-in 10.0 has the following new functionality:

      - Tested and made compatible with FileMaker 17.
      - Added new Exchange Files script step and TrFile_ExchangeFiles function, which can (quickly) exchange two files on disk. You can even exchange files on different disks (but this may take more time).
      - Added new TrFile_GetCodeSignInfo function, which returns code sign info of signed files (like applications and plug-ins).
      - Added new TrFile_GetFileStructure function, which returns the structure of a movie (.mov) file: a list of all movie boxes (formerly known as atoms) in the movie. The movie boxes are indented to visualize the tree structure of the boxes. The result can be formatted as XML or as a more readable list of movie boxes. It can also return the structure of a ISOBMFF (ISO base media file format), for example MP4 or HEIC.

In Troi File Plug-in 10.0 we also added the following:

      - Added new switch "-AllowDifferentVolumes" to the TrFile_MoveFile function, which allows the move of the file between different volumes (disks).
      - The plug-in now indicates if an external script step is compatible with a product. The step is shown in grey if it is incompatible for that product (for example for iOS) in the script editing pane (center) and the script steps pane (right).
      - Added new switch "-AddFolderSuffix" to the TrFile_ListFolder function: this will add a trailing slash to folders in the result, making them recognizable as folders.
      - Improved the TrFile_DragAndDrop function and the Add DragAndDrop Handler script step so that they work with FileMaker 17. Also added a new switch to the TrFile_DragAndDrop function to help with the scrolling behavior when you use a drop zone for the drag destination. When you add the switch the position of the dropzone will scroll too when scrolling the FileMaker window. This option is also added to the script step "Add DragAndDrop Handler".

Furthermore we improved metadata support in version 10.0:

      - The TrFile_SetMetaData function with the switch "-SetEXIF" is now compliant with EXIF v2.3.1. It writes numerous tags introduced in EXIF version 2.3.1. Apart from these we added more tags to be written, including tags which are not part of the EXIF specification, but may exist in the EXIF data in some images. We also rewrote the code for this function, so that the plug-in now writes EXIF data that is better readable by PHP.
      - (macOS) Added initial support for HEIC (High Efficiency Image File Format) image files: the TrFile_GetMetaData function with the switch "-GetImageDescription" now returns a description.

Apart from these additions we made various further improvements and changes. More detailed information on all changes and improvements implemented in Troi File Plug-in 10.0 can be found at https://www.troi.com/products/fileplugin/

      Howdy from Texas!
I am trying to change a little bit of Groovy that stamps a given phrase at a specified location on an existing PDF.
The original code operates on files however I want to simply specify container fields as input and output.
I did successfully change the input (src) to come FROM a container field.   I can't seem to figure out how to return the resulting object to a container (dest) directly.
I am passing the container parameters as:  "myTable::inputContainer" and "myTable::outputContainer".
Can someone please point me in the right direction here?
      Thanks in advance!
      Bob Minteer

      This is the code:
      RegisterGroovy( "stampPdf( src ; dest ; xPosition ; yPosition ; phrase )" ; "import com.itextpdf.text.Rectangle;¶ import com.itextpdf.text.Element;¶ import com.itextpdf.text.pdf.PdfReader;¶ import com.itextpdf.text.pdf.PdfStamper;¶ import com.itextpdf.text.pdf.ColumnText;¶ import com.itextpdf.text.pdf.PdfContentByte;¶ import com.itextpdf.text.Phrase;¶ import com.itextpdf.canvas.*;¶ import com.itextpdf.text.pdf.PdfWriter;¶ ¶ InputStream container¶ try{¶ container = fmpro.getContainerStream(src)¶ }catch(e){¶ throw new Exception('Could not get data from container (make sure container field name is passed as text)')¶ }¶ ¶ // test if container field is empty¶ if( container == null ) {¶ throw new Exception('Container field is empty')¶ }¶ ¶ reader = new PdfReader(container)¶ ¶ float xP = Float.parseFloat(xPosition)¶ float yP = Float.parseFloat(yPosition)¶ ¶ stamper = new PdfStamper(reader, new FileOutputStream(dest), PdfWriter.VERSION_1_7)¶ ¶ PdfContentByte canvas = stamper.getOverContent(1);¶ ¶ ColumnText.showTextAligned(canvas, Element.ALIGN_LEFT, new Phrase(phrase),xP,yP,0)¶ ¶ return stamper¶" )

Updated file management plug-in for FileMaker Pro 16 adds new ResolveAlias function and gets metadata from movies

Alphen aan den Rijn, the Netherlands, February 20, 2018–Troi today announced the immediate availability of Troi File Plug-in 9.1 for FileMaker Pro 16. With added functionality for getting metadata from movie files, this plug-in becomes an even more indispensable tool for any company managing their image and movie files with the help of a FileMaker database.

What is new in version 9.1?

Version 9.1 adds the following new functionality for movie metadata:

      - Added new functionality to the TrFile_GetMetaData function: when using the switch "-GetMovieMetadata" the plug-in now returns all metadata embedded in QuickTime movies (with extension .mov) and all variants of MP4 movies. This returns a list of metadata in the movie, returning for example Artist, Creation date and Description.
      - Added new functionality to the TrFile_GetMetaData function: when using the switch "-GetMovieGPS" the plug-in now returns the GPS location data of the movie. With an extra -Format switch you can specify how the location is returned.
      - Added new switch "-GetMovieCreationDate" to the TrFile_GetMetaData function: when using this switch the plug-in returns the creation date (including time + timezone) of the movie (if present as metadata).
      - Added new functionality to the TrFile_GetMetaData function: when using the switch "-GetXMP" the plug-in now can read embedded XMP metadata in movies. The plug-in supports reading XMP metadata for QuickTime movies (with extension .mov) and all variants of MP4 movies.

Troi File Plug-in 9.1 also has the following new functionality:

      - Added new TrFile_ResolveAlias function, which will resolve an alias file (on macOS) or shortcut (on Windows). It returns the path to the destination of the alias file. If the alias is broken you can use the switch "-ReturnLastKnownPath" to get the last path the alias pointed to.
      - Added extra switch "-AddAliasInfo" to the TrFile_GetTypeOfItem function. If an item is an alias file (or shortcut on Windows) the result will be "file (alias)".
      - You can now add the "-DontResolveAlias" switch to the TrFile_SelectFileDialog function. When you select an alias/shortcut the result is the path to the alias itself (and not the destination path where the alias points to).
      - (Windows) Added code signing to the plug-in for Windows. (On macOS code signing was already added in version 8.0).
      - Added new switch "-SourceUTF8CharSet" to the TrFile_GetMetadata function, to be used with the switch "-GetIPTC". The IPTC metadata of the source image file will be forced to be read as UTF-8 encoded.

Apart from these additions we fixed some possible problems in the Substitute and the GetFolderSize functions and we improved the working of the Substitute, SetMetadata and InsertContents functions on macOS 10.13 (High Sierra).
