March 16, 200421 yr At the risk of posting what has been answered... I just want to know if with this new version (7) can you now "program" to print to a specific printer; decide from which tray; program the number of copies?? Rather then have FM "remember" the settings. If yes, is it available in all versions of FM (pro, devel...)?? thanks --Dan Version: v5.x Platform: Windows 95/98
March 16, 200421 yr Farytails... could come true... they could happen to you.... Sorry no.. You will still need plug-ins to change printers. I am sure the print setup is still captured the same way as before.
March 16, 200421 yr Actually, in v7 the Print Setup[ ] settings are not 'remembered' within a script step as they were in previous versions of FileMaker, but rather, are explicitly entered into a dialog within the ScriptMaker. One of the consequences of this is that it is now possible to have more than one Print Setup stored within a single script - and the same is true of the other 'remembering' script commands such as Perform Find[ ], Sort[ ], Import Records[ ], Export Records[ ] and several new script steps - all are explicitly configured within ScriptMaker dialogs in v7. As to the selection of a printer, that may depend on the OS and driver you're using, but in general I believe that Stephen is correct. BTW, note also that although you're currently using Win95/98, the minimum requirements for v7 on Windows are 2000/XP, and printing is a rather different story in that environment.
March 17, 200421 yr Author Thank you all... I am in the process of upgrading my computer... the new one will most likely come with xp. But thanks for catching that. Dan
