At the risk of posting what has been answered...

I just want to know if with this new version (7) can you now

"program" to print to a specific printer; decide from which tray; program

the number of copies?? Rather then have FM "remember" the settings.

If yes, is it available in all versions of FM (pro, devel...)??

thanks

Farytails... could come true... they could happen to you....

Sorry no..

You will still need plug-ins to change printers.

I am sure the print setup is still captured the same way as before.

Actually, in v7 the Print Setup[ ] settings are not 'remembered' within a script step as they were in previous versions of FileMaker, but rather, are explicitly entered into a dialog within the ScriptMaker.

One of the consequences of this is that it is now possible to have more than one Print Setup stored within a single script - and the same is true of the other 'remembering' script commands such as Perform Find[ ], Sort[ ], Import Records[ ], Export Records[ ] and several new script steps - all are explicitly configured within ScriptMaker dialogs in v7.

As to the selection of a printer, that may depend on the OS and driver you're using, but in general I believe that Stephen is correct.

BTW, note also that although you're currently using Win95/98, the minimum requirements for v7 on Windows are 2000/XP, and printing is a rather different story in that environment. wink.gif
