Tablet PC and FMPro

I'm looking into doing a database that will use Tablet PCs for people to be able to write handwritten

notes as well as use popup menus to enter data.

Is there a way to have filemaker store these handwritten notes in a current record? I have no experience

with the Tablet PC - perhaps the operating system knows how to stuff a TIFF graphic of the notes

into a FM container field?

Thanks,

Rick

FileMaker Version: 7

Platform: Windows XP

We did some testing with TabletPC and FileMaker (v5.5) a short time ago. FileMaker works just fine with a TabletPC.

The Tablet OS has an automatic conversion from handwritten (stylus pen) to text, which varies from 50 to 99% accuracy, depending on the user and his or her penmanship, and it doesn't seem to be related to how 'neat' the person's handwriting is. It just seems to be whether the person's handwriting is compatible with the system. Supposedly, the more you use a TabletPC, the more the OS 'learns' your handwriting and gets better with time. This could also, possibly, get worse if the Tablet is shared with several users. We did not have time to test how good the 'learning' is.

Anyway, FileMaker Pro does work fairly well with a TabletPC. The degree of accuracy is dependent on the compatibility of the user and the OS, not FileMaker.
