I have an unconfirmed rumor from a highly placed FSA member that the 50 file limit is gone. This member has stated as having had 105 files open at once time. This memeber later confirmed that this was 105 FILES and not tables.

Sadly the limit of 1 million tables per file is still in place.

Good News. Kurt I was wondering if your UniqueID method still remains valid for vers. 7. Also in that context is FileMaker still indexing in the same manner, ie. only the first so many characters (I can't remember the number just now) are used for the index. Also have you pondered using the TimeStamp field in your UniqueID method. Would definitely appreciate any feedback from you on this issue.
