What happened to type-ahead selection of items in popup menus? I often used large popup menus for selecting values for fields in Filemaker 3 thru 6, where typing the first few letters of an item would scroll to that position in the list (given that they were displayed sorted on an indexed value). It doesn't seem to be working in FM7.

I just tried this with popup menus in both 6 and 7 and it didn't work in either. But when I tried it with popop LISTS it worked with both 6 and 7.

Yep, works fine with popup lists...as long as you're not trying to match to the second column value in FM7 (this is broken).

I just saw a cool technique on http://www.filemakermagazine.com.... one can select values in a popup list and have it autoenter the proper ID value into the match field without having the ID in the popup. So you can do type ahead on whatever field you want.

That technique looks neat! I was so intrigued that I decided to go ahead and subscribe to FileMaker Magazine. Hope the tip's worth it!

I think the magazine is well worth it. The $ I save from the tips and the headaches that are prevented from some of the magazine advice has more than paid for itself....

Now with that said, do you think they'll give me a free year for that testimonial?
