alimrb Posted June 19, 2004 Posted June 19, 2004 why fmp7 dosnt install in win98? what is the solution? --
Newbies h4consulting Posted June 19, 2004 Newbies Posted June 19, 2004 The system requirements include Windows 2000 or XP. You're gonna have to upgrade if you want to use version 7
DanBrill Posted June 19, 2004 Posted June 19, 2004 Just out of curriosity, would FM7 install on XP if the disk was FAT rather than NTFS?
Will Posted June 20, 2004 Posted June 20, 2004 FileMaker has tested and approved FileMaker 7 for Win 2000 and XP. It may still run on Windows 98 but FileMaker will not help you if you call them with a support issue - I personally haven't tried to install FM 7 on Win 98 but I have run other FileMaker products successfully in unsupported configurations. Applications are generally certified to run on an operating system, not a file system - I suppose it's implied that the application will run on any filesystem that a supported OS runs. There is really no reason to run FAT under Windows XP. Some PC maufacturers probably still ship XP with FAT32 but most people agree you should generally run NTFS.
