June 24, 200421 yr How do you change pages on a multi page report with the status area on hide and lock? If I don't lock the status area I can use the CTRL + up or down, but if I lock the status area I can't use the CTRL key. Is there another way to use keyboard navigation with the status are on hide/lock? Is there something I can add to my script? I just don't want the user to click on the bottom left status button and possibly click on a layout in preview mode. It would cause problems. Thanks for all the help.
July 10, 200421 yr Ditto. Seems like the "real" fix would be for FM to add navigation buttons in preview, like Access does. Placing your own nav buttons on a layout means you have to have them print out too which is not desired.
July 10, 200421 yr You can easily set any object to not print, Format, Sliding/Printing, Do not print checkbox; but that's not really the problem, because the buttons wouldn't work in Preview mode. Due to the nature of Preview mode, I don't see working buttons happening anytime soon. It would be acceptable if FileMaker added a button in the Status area to Print. But then how would you control it? It wouldn't know about your own print script. Right now you can Pause your own script, then continue. I don't see that that's all that different. There are a few ways to solve this problem, in order of difficulty: 1. Use the built-in capabilities. 2. Use a Paused script 3. Build your own floating palette to control printing. 4. Copy/paste page(s) into a global container field (viewable in Browse mode) Example of floating palette: http://www.nightwing.com.au/FileMaker/demos7/demo704.html
July 10, 200421 yr Oh, I see what you mean. Buttons that showed in Preview mode, even if they worked, would print. Duh. I guess we're stuck with what we got, which is not all that bad. Just some work.
